1 Day Bisoke Hike
This 1 Day Mount Bisoke Volcano hiking tour package is designed for both experienced mountain climbers and beginners. Mount Bisoke is a volcano located in the Virunga ranges, which include Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and Congo’s Virunga National Park. It reaches a height of 12,175 feet and was created as a result of earth movements around the East African Rift valley.
While the summit is located in Rwanda, parts of the mountain extend into the Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically in the Goma and Lake Kivu areas. The mountain is surrounded by beautiful vegetation right up to the summit and is one of the habitats for mountain gorillas. Hiking Mount Bisoke is one of the top activities within the volcanoes national park that can be combined with a general wildlife safari in Rwanda. The hike isn’t so demanding and can be undertaken by anyone reasonably fit.
This Bisoke hiking package is designed to allow visitors who may not have enough time to go for other interesting activities, like gorilla trekking, to focus on hiking. To hike Mount Bisoke, one needs to be fit in preparation for the rough and steep edges. We recommend that visitors plan to bring along a porter to help with any extra heavy luggage.

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Bisoke hike – transfer back to Kigali
Depending on your location in Kigali, meet with your driver and transfer to Volanoes national park as early as 5 am. Upon arrival, connect to the park headquarters in Kinigi at 7:00 a.m. for a briefing, and you will later head off for hiking. The hike will typically take a full day, from 6 to 8 hours, depending on your hiking experience.
During the climb, you will cross a series of different vegetation habitats, starting with bamboo forests, then moving into Hagenia – Hypericum forest and finally moving through Senecio–Lobelia bush near the summit. You will carry your packed lunch with you and some drinks as well. You will later return to your hotel, check-out and embark on your drive back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at the allocation you advise in Kigali.
