Detailed itinerary of 9 Days Tarangire Lake Manyara Ngorongoro northern Serengeti and Zanzibar
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Tarangire
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by the Salt Holidays representative (your driver-guide) and after a short briefing about what to expect, you will embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is a stunning park covering approximately 2500 square kilometers, hosting large herds of elephants and a landscape dotted with the iconic baobab trees. During a game drive through the stunning savannah landscape, you will head to the picnic site where you can enjoy your lunch while taking in the view of Tarangire and watching monkeys trying to snatch your food.
Then go for an afternoon game drive, exploring the park extensively and enjoying excellent sightings of several animals, including wildebeests, zebras, elephants, elands, oryx, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and several bird species. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for check-in, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you will check out and head to the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive. A significant area of the park is occupied by Lake Manyara, and the forest starts just when you cross the park gate along the base of the Great Rift Valley with the hotspring to the west of the park.
Lake Manyara National Park is home to the famous and rare tree-climbing lions, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and troops of baboons, which you will see during the game drive. You will also see several bird species, including flamingoes, ostriches, Egyptian geese and more. After a picnic lunch you will have an afternoon game drive. Later, drive to a Maasai Village to experience the different activities and cultures of the Maasai people. In the evening you will drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater
Have an early breakfast and depart for the lush highlands of Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a world-famous destination, one of the seven wonders of Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you reach the crater rim, you will descend the steep track into the 600m deep caldera for a full game drive.
The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the Big Five to spotted hyenas and some of the more than 500 bird species in the area. Some of the animals to look out for include cape buffaloes, gazelles, lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, wildebeests and elands, among others. After an extensive game drive and picnic lunch in the crater, you will ascend to the crater rim and head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Northern Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park, the most famous national park in the world. Enjoy a spectacular but long drive as you head to the Northern Region of the park; as you get to Serengeti, you will see why the name means “endless plains” in the local language.
Serengeti, covering an area of 18,000 square kilometers, is home to the Great Migration, where 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelope cross annually. During the drive through the endless plains, also look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, among others.

Day 5: Full day in Northern Serengeti National Park
Have breakfast at the camp and depart for a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. The park has a mesmerizing beauty; its landscape consists of seasonally flooded plains, forests, and shrub savannahs. The Serengeti is primarily grassy plains; being surrounded by millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles is an experience of a lifetime. During the migration in towards the Mara River, they stampede over vast open plains and plunge into the crocodile-infested Mara River, all while the predators endlessly hunt them.
After your picnic lunch on the Serengeti Plains, you continue your game drive till evening. Return to your lodge for your dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Arusha and fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast, you will be driven to Arusha to catch your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your resort on the North coast of Nungwi, where you will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Days 7 and 8: Nungwi Beach Experience
Spend these two days exploring Nungwi Beach. Have a spice tour and visit one of the spice plantations, where you will delight your senses as you pick, smell, and taste fruits, spices, and herbs such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, breadfruit, jackfruit, vanilla, and lemongrass. On this tour, you’ll eat traditional meals made with the spices and herbs you just learned.
On the second day, you will have leisure time to relax on the white sand beaches, soak up the sunshine, and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
